Our organization was formed to research and then educate the public about the cultural and natural history of the Wimberley Valley. Your support will help us continue important projects such as the ongoing care and operation of the Winters-Wimberley House and the newly restored Wimberley-Hughes House.
In carrying out its chartered purpose, WIC has sponsored a series of oral histories of Wimberley, researched and produced a play concerning the coming of electricity to Wimberley in 1939, wrote and filmed a video concerned with water conservation, assembled a traveling program or “kit” pertaining to the life and work of Buck Winn, early artist, inventor and resident of Wimberley, sought and received grants for these projects as well as one for the restoration of a segment of one of Winn’s murals (now on loan to the Visitors Center), and produced, in cooperation with the Hays County Historical Commission, a Wimberley Walking Tour Brochure detailing our “historic district.”
Our Fourth Grade History Program, the collection, and preservation of historic photographs and documents, informative quarterly meetings, as well as several fun-filled social events, help to make the Wimberley Institute of Cultures a beneficial and enjoyable organization.

- Membership in the Wimberley Institute of Cultures is open to all who are interested in participating in the objectives and aims of the organization.
- The organization is a 501(c)3 and annual contributions are tax deductible.
- Please consider a DONATION with your membership. Donations of $150 or more will include a 1-year membership.
- Annual Membership is Jan. – Dec.
- If joining after October 1, the membership extends through the following year.
